I have been painting botanicals for 35 years and am drawn to the tiniest of details. Until Covid arrived I had been teaching art on cruise ships for 12 years. The traveling influenced my choice of colors and subject. My newest adaption of botanicals is to collect vines, flowers etc and artfully place on paper which I boil for 3 hours in a mordant to release the dye. When cleaned and dried I watercolor over the faint images-sometimes adding gold leaf or other media. This is an intensely creative process and results in a soft ephemeral image.
