Saggar Fired Lidded Vessel (Decorative)
Saggar Fired Lidded Vessel (Decorative)
Wheelthrown, burnished with terra sigillata, aluminum foil saggar pit fired with organic and metallic combustables, carbon smoked lid, waxed and hand-burnished to a soft sheen. Every pot fired in a saggar is imbued with the essence of the materials ignited within the saggar during the firing process. This piece has highly desirable flashings of greens, mauves and soft yellow, along with carbon black markings typical of this firing process. The lid was fired separately in a raku kiln and subsequently reduced to achieve a deep carbon black to accentuate the markings of the vessel.
