Bio
Al earned BS and MS degrees in Forestry and a national fellowship for his doctorate work. He became a forestry educator in private industry and later taught at the post-secondary level. His drawings and paintings of wildlife scenes were valuable in teaching his curricula. Although Al specializes in smaller oil and watercolor paintings, he has also produced more than 150 editions of etchings. In recent years, he has participated in exhibitions and invitational shows throughout the eastern United States. His work has appeared in the Easton Waterfowl Festival since its inception in 1970. Al is the recipient of over 50 major art awards, including the Alden Bryan Memorial Prize (2014) and the George Inness Award (2010) from New York’s Salmagundi Club. In 2011, the Maritime Art Gallery of the Mystic Seaport Museum in Connecticut purchased his award-winning entry for its permanent collection. His work can also be found in private and museum collections throughout the United Sates, including the collections of the Salmagundi Club, the Smithsonian Institution and the White House. Al is currently a member of the Salmagundi Club, Whiskey Painters of America and the Artists' Fellowship of New York City. He is also listed in Who's Who in American Art.
